On the board at last !!

14/07/17

Sorry Colin ( and other readers ) for my lengthy absence updating the website but I threw my rattle from the pram and decided I was not going to write another word until we had a winner !! Ypres bolted in yesterday at Carlisle winning margin officially two lengths but Kevin Stott who rode him informed me it could have been further ! I am so pleased for all " Stu s " owners , old and new though I must mention " big John " who has been in with Ypres since day one and has been one of our most loyal supporters . My one regret being you guys were unable to witness his fantastic victory . A sigh of relief too for all at " team award " as our horses are in splendid form but we were hitting the crossbar too often . Now we can relax and enjoy some more winners ! Also well done to the boys and girls in the yard who work very hard and the irony of Ypres being our first winner this year makes life just a little sweeter this morning . Jordan has just left us after a years service and joined his girlfriend in Vietnam . The poor guy was bitten kicked and trampled by Ypres on numerous occasions so,this one is for you Jordan !! Monte Cinq ( Bushy) is well and truly on his comeback route as I watched him steam up the seven furlong gallop this morning ! His rider Adam blew more than Bushy as I caught up with them for a de brief ! He looks a picture in his black shiny coat and the dark destroyer could be back on the track in a matter of weeks . He has grown too and believe you me .. Bushy is back !! Stretewise is having a little break and revels in her sunbathing and fourty winks regime , she brings all her hay to her stable door and munches away between naps as she watches the world go by . Gloria has grown into a finelooking woman ! The grey girl eats sleeps and is now probably twice the size she was when she arrived . She has been through the stalls and truly takes everything in her stride .. Everyone loves her she is so kind and happy .. Though once on the gallops she is a little demon ! Every question we ask she answers with interest .. Watch this space as I have high hopes for her . The Kylacchy filly had a little setback and with Craig Lamont s blessing had a wee rest . She seems to be over the worst as today I was entering her stable to administer her " med s" and was greeted with a four feet leap in the air and the biggest girly squeal ever ! There will be no rush with her and as I have stated previously .. All that sit on her give glowing reports ! Bay Station ran another cracker at Pontefract finishing fourth on not her preferred ground .. She too was squealing well this morning and looks a picture , no doubt her being in the winners enclosure is not too far away . Her owner Dave used to own Long shadow and is another valued friend and supporter .. She won t be long I promise ! Pastoral Dreams too has been through the stalls and behaved like an old pro .. He has grown looks fantastic eats everything I put before him .. He still holds some very fancy entries but he will not be rushed . He does all that we ask and the guys that ride him always give glowing reports . Embers Glow ran a lovely race at Thirsk finishing fifth behind four Newmarket raiders and we were very happy with his first time on a racecourse . He will only improve and has plenty more to offer .. A beautiful chestnut colt who has finally dropped his coat , Jim was awarded best turned out for his efforts .. Well done that lad ! Peterhouse has not run a bad race thus far and is a winner waiting to happen . He enjoys the paddock most afternoons and looks amazing for it . A certain apprentice I know has been riding out and is craving a ride on Pete ..!!.. Connections I think may want to try an extended trip so watch this space . My old mate Rory has not fired yet though dismiss him at your peril .. I spend a lot of time with these animals and I read the signs they send me ( not always correctly) and the best is still to come mark my words . Patience is a virtue I hear .. Have faith in him folks . He too enjoys the paddock most afternoon s and is giving signals that a big run is imminent. The Power filly is almost named and is weeks away from her debut . She too has done stalls work works effortlessly on the low moor and the world is her oyster . She is a lovely big chestnut filly and has blossomed into a stunning looking race horse .. Fingers crossed . Sweetnessandlight and foal .. Doobiwocka.. Named by Kate not me , are flourishing in their paddock and it almost time for weaning ! Gulp ! Baby is enormous and scares all that venture near ! She has oodles of mum s attitude and bit me yesterday , ! Mum looks fat and glowing as spawn of Brazen Beau evolves ! Heavenly Gait resides with old boy Faz and looks fat and chilled out . She has taken to field life well and will return a better animal . Apologies again for my absence but on to big and better results . I would not make such a statement unless satisfied that every horse in the yard will win .. I just do not know when unfortunately ! Best regards to you all
