Ownership

We welcome new owners here at Jason Ward Racing and offer many options catering for 100% ownership or a part share of a horse in a syndicate or partnership, this has proved to be a very popular option for people wanting to get started in racing but do not want sole financial responsibility for a horse. However we can accommodate all requirements so feel free to get in touch to discuss our current available horses.

Becoming an Owner

Jason will be delighted to welcome your horses for training at Manor House Stables. Jason is happy to train for individual owners, racing partnerships, clubs and syndicate owners; all owners whether full or part share are assured of a warm welcome and a high level of service.

If you haven't been involved in racehorse ownership before, you may like to navigate through the paragraphs below, which detail the different entries into ownership and the typical costs involved. We can provide affordable involvement in horse racing, whatever your budget.

If you are an existing racehorse owner and already know your requirements, why not contact us to discuss what we can offer you

Buying a Racehorse

Getting involved in racehorse ownership can feel like a complicated business. Below we have outlined the three main forms of ownership entry. We hope you find something that suits your needs.

Sole Ownership

The horse is yours and only yours but that means any costs will be incurred by you alone, however,  On the flip-side, all prize money comes to you and all profits arising from a sale of the horse would be yours.  You will also have close involvement with decisions affecting the horse. As a sole owner you will of course be able to choose the name of your horse and which colours will be worn in your name.

All fees are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate. Owners should note that all rates below cover training fees only. All BHA and Weatherbys charges (entry fees, Jockey fees etc.) are the liability of the owner and will be charged either to the owner's Weatherbys account or via a BHA invoice account.

The basic rate is charged at £32.86 per day. This rate is purely a training fee and any veterinary costs, farrier fees, feed supplements, racing expenses and transport expenses will be added to your monthly invoice when your horse incurs these extra costs. When your horse is in exercise, it will also incur gallop fees at £56 per month.

We pride ourselves on clear and transparent billing. When you are on the basic rate your monthly invoice will detail precisely all incurred costs in date order.

Discounts & alternative rates

If you place two or more horses with us, you will receive a 10% discount on the second and subsequent horses' training fees, provided that all the horses are under precisely the same ownership and all are in full training.

Co-ownership

Of course if you don’t want to incur all the costs you can share a horse with other people. We can either introduce you to other owners or perhaps you will want to get some friends involved as well.

Co-ownership is effectively any type of racehorse ownership other than sole ownership, but in racing there are a number of different terms for this depending how many people are included in the ownership of the horse. There different types of co-ownership;

Joint ownership

·         Can consist of between 2 and 12 individuals

·         The horse(s) can run in either a joint ownership name or the name of a joint owner

Racing Partnership

·         Can consist of between 2 and 20 individuals of which at least 2 must become, or already be, registered owners

Indeed here at Jason Ward Racing we have an open door policy with the view to making racing affordable to anyone and everyone.
