News from R Jay Ward Racing Ltd

Heavenly Gait ate up and promptly kicked me this morning as I mucked her out ! I caught one leg and avoided the other much to my relief as I firmly believe she would have snapped me in half .. So feeling none the worse for her exertions yesterday .. I was slightly disappointed with her run though I still believe there is more to come . Shane Gray was not hard on her once beaten though I would have liked to have seen her get one or two .. Patience is a virtue. Stretewise runs tomorrow also at Newcastle (7.45) and she is kicking the door down .. It is a hot little race and she also holds an entry at Turf Moor a week on Monday . Sweetnessandlight was scanned last evening and her womanly parts are all in good order and heads down to Newmarket early next week to be covered again . Knowing her as well as I do I pity the stallion that has to perform .. Though to be fair she has taken to motherhood and is a doting parent ! If her offspring show half as much as she did we will be just fine . Jockey Neil Farley has agreed to come in a couple of mornings a week and we look forward to his input . It s getting exciting ( albeit stressful) now as our steeds up the tempo and all hold possible entries in the early weeks of the turf season . Pasty had a slight setback and has had a quiet few days but is back in work and has filled out grown and looks the part . Ypres is also looking less like a wooly bear each and every day and seems to be relishing his work . We have tried him in a pacifier which seems to have awoken the " Stu" of old .. Just ask Jordan who rode him up the five yesterday !! I did top rugs this afternoon and whilst standing by the grey Showcasing filly realised just how much she has grown and flourished of late . Monte cinq is revelling in his down time and as I previously stated the paddock awaits my friend .. Not for too long though as there are some super races lined up for " Bushy" and I can't wait to see him over a straight five at York , for example . Our newest recruit Embers Glow continues to please and also has possible early dates . I have not been too informative concerning " Rory" for the simple reason that I am very superstitious and have not wanted to tempt fate , needless to say that all is well and he is fine !! Peterhouse has wintered fantastically and with some heavy rugs on is also beginning to regain his pretty boy floyd tag .! A big chestnut horse for those of you that don t know him and always catches the eye . Not sure if I welcomed the new farrier Sam to the ranks and keep up the good work please . After snow yesterday and rain all day today was a little milder and we are forecast a mild and pleasant weekend . The clocks go forward too I believe so my mornings get earlier and my evenings get longer ... I love this time of year as real racing begins !! The all weather is our bread and butter and has been very good to us over the years but the jump boys are a hardy breed and whilst not my cup of tea they command my utmost respect . A family funeral on Tuesday reminds us all what life is truly about so thoughts are with " mum" the matriarch and super glue that hold Jason and myself together at times . We love her dearly will pamper her on Sunday and be her strength on Tuesday " sheikh Mummy " as I affectionately tease her with !
